Burning wood

I like pyrography. Today was a good day burning wood. The kayak image is on my moms wooden folding snack table.

1999 Vin Dog

I have this old watercolor I painted in 1999. It is hanging on my moms wall. It is of Mark Vincent,  my former coach and good friend skiing at snowbird.

A few paintings from the vault

I found these while looking at old photos on Facebook.  It’s always nice to see paintings from the distant past.

48″X72″ oil on canvass

I have returned to painting after a six year break. I felt it was time to dive back in. I chose to paint the place I grew up. The race hill at snowbird Utah is a magical place with all the joy that comes from wonderful people, and skiing.

KEEFE Commission

I was asked to paint a lake scene with the flag. Here’s the result.

Winter 2019

With the new year brings new projects, new commissions, and visual additions to my new home. I am enjoying the solitude of working in a large studio, where music is my best friend.

Patriotic Theme, coming to a studio near me.

Pen and Ink

I was awarded a commission from the Military Warrior Support Foundation. This latest piece represents the sacrifices it warriors endure for their country and families. It will be auctioned off in Texas during the annual gala event next May. Stay tuned for the initial sketches coming soon.

I rescued a few items from the old house. One being a nice wood framed glass that I used around 100 crayons and a blow dryer to melt and blend the colors. I love the non objective roots of this piece. It is always a nice surprise when the secrets of the reversed glass is revealed. I’m looking forward to new additions like this one to fill my walls.

The 2019 veterans creative arts festival was a great success for this guy. Two blue ribbons this year: pyrography and our senior veterans Zentangle group entry. Whoot Whoot!

I started a double canvass of the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. It’s a window which Sue Bounous had discovered during the annual Snowbird Ski Team (SBSEF), Dryland camp.

Summer 2018

More wood burning from Williams Bay, WI. My latest pyrography is for my mother, I’m doing lake theme images on her wooden TV tables.

New Painting in progress:

I’m back in my original studio in Williams Bay. Hello from the basement!

I received a Commission from the Aurora University Veterans Association to paint a 6′ by 4′ canvass for Veterans Day. It will represent the Korean War conflict. I’m partially done and everything seems to be going well. Join in as I work on my largest military inspired piece.

I completed the piece one hour into my Alive Day. I was wounded on September 7th 2005.

One final inspection by Mazy D!, before the send off and delivery to AUVA.

Painting with ground Lapis Lazuli from Afghanistan. I used material from one combat zone for the image of another. While I was deployed I collected several pounds of Lapis Lazuli. I ground the unpolished rocks into a powder. It was therapeutic, and I’ve been making paint from the fine blue dust ever since.

I tried another wood burning piece. It’s of my nephew’s dog Hazel, she passed away last year. I made it for his highschool graduation gift.
