I deployed to Afghanistan with the 92 Military Police Company in 2005. I painted and sketched my way across the Afghanistan landscape as the hectic operation tempo allowed. It was an ancient land that I grew fond of as we patrolled mountains and deserts. At the tours end I had amassed over 50 drawings and paintings. The bulk of which I used for an exhibit in Hanau Germany near Frankfurt. I wanted the German people to see the American forces in Europe as warriors with an appreciation for fine art. The exhibition was held in the remnants of a church that had been bombed by the US during World War II.
A-MA-ZING! The details are so cool, like the tank tires and the contrast in colors on the mountains. I also like the contrast of the harsh subject of war vs the beautifully rich colors in the paintings.
